I was born in Gillingham (Kent) and have lived in the county all my
life. I served an engineering apprenticeship on leaving school
and joined the Royal Navy when I reached my early twenties. I
travelled extensively around the Far east and Mediterranean,
visiting Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong etc.
I later became involved in the exploration of oil, gas and coal. My
work took me to the deserts of the Middle East, Southern Africa, the
North Sea and also the Med. No matter where I went, my trusty
guitar always went with me, along with a small MIDI sequencer, to
try out some songs.

Fitting it around my work, I started playing in bands in my early teens, and became interested
in recording from the very beginning, starting with an old mono tape
machine. I used to switch out the erase head so that I could record
sound on sound. It was very crude. Monitoring what I had previously
recorded was an art in itself and very difficult. I always longed
for some decent equipment to set me on the road to making my first
true multi-track recordings. It was several years before I
managed to get started. It has become my favourite hobby.
For a living these days, I drive a 44 ton articulated lorry. I
quite enjoy driving and indeed, used to teach people to drive
cars. Another of my interests is road safety, and I have
started to write a book on the subject. It's only taken me three
years so far and still nowhere near finished! but, you have to do these
things. If you don't, in later life you'll look back and wished
that you had.
I've had an interesting life up to now and wouldn't have changed it
much. I have two sons of my own (Paul and Stephen) and two step children, (Stephanie
and Daniel). They have all reached adulthood without problems
and I'm proud of them all. I mustn't forget to mention my
grandchildren. I have five so far, all boys, (Simon, Ryan, Ben,
Mitchell and Jake).
My wife Helen and I also have two dogs Kim (left) and Herbie. They
are very special to us and have us exactly where they want us.

Sadly, Kim (my 'little girlie') was
recently taken very ill with cancer and despite all our efforts to
get her well again, we lost her. She was a wonderful dog.
